WHAT YOU WILL DO
The Regulatory Affairs Manager serves as Hyundai Auto Canada’s Canadian regulatory authority, acting as the subject‑matter expert on all applicable federal and provincial legislation governing Hyundai vehicles sold in Canada. This role is the primary regulatory liaison between Canadian government agencies, Hyundai Auto Canada, and Hyundai’s global manufacturing and engineering teams. The incumbent ensures full regulatory compliance across the product lifecycle, proactively interprets evolving requirements, and provides clear, strategic guidance to internal stakeholders to support timely certification, market readiness, and ongoing compliance.
HOW WILL YOU MAKE AN IMPACT
- Act as the Canadian Automotive Industry Regulatory Expert (Federal and Provincial).
- Regularly liaise between government bodies, Hyundai's factories and engineering centers to ensure compliance with all legislation and regulations related to all Company products. i.e.
- Coordinate the supply of certification tests and data as requested by Transport Canada (TC)
- Coordinate and support the supply of certification/GHG and FE data as required by regulation to Environment & Climate Change Canada (ECCC)
- Submit Annual Vehicle and Engine Emissions data to ECCC
- Submit ZEV data to the representative Federal/Provincial bodies as required by regulation
- Monitor credit status and support corporate credit sale/purchase as required
- Lead the certification process for vehicles unique to the Canadian market, ensuring timely approval and compliance with TC and ECCC requirements.
- Act as a liaison between the Company's factories / engineering centers and government bodies with respect to inquiries related to technical information.
- Represent Hyundai Auto Canada in industry associations (e.g., Global Automakers of Canada – GAC) to monitor, assess, and influence proposed legislation, regulatory changes, Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs), and related agreements.
- Attend regularly scheduled Technical Meetings
- Summarize meeting minutes and circulate to internal departments
- Follow-up and provide input to proposals on behalf of Hyundai
- Consult with key stakeholders, review information and communicate with relevant parties
- Review, analyze, and communicate proposed and evolving automotive regulations to senior management, including assessment of business impact, risk, and recommended actions; provide feedback and input to regulators as appropriate.
- Collaborate closely with HAC Safety & Corporate Affairs, Public Relations, Product Planning, and other internal departments, as well as Hyundai Motor America (HMA), Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc. (HATCI), and Hyundai Motor Company (HMC), as required.
- Review, analyze and report on current and future activities relating to the international harmonization of safety standards and regulations.
- Prepare regulatory guidance for dealers, internal teams, and leadership, and support PR and marketing with accurate, compliant messaging.
- Support Public Relations and marketing activities by providing accurate regulatory input and messaging that positions Hyundai positively with regulators, media, and the public.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE
- Completion of an accredited engineering program and achievement of an undergraduate degree in an engineering discipline, preferably mechanical engineering (or an equivalent combination of experience and education)
- 5+ years of relevant experience in same or similar function.
- Engineering background is an asset.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of French an asset.
- Excellent presentation skills.
- Good Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) skillset.
- Good skillset to manage outside sources.
- Vehicle Safety and Emissions Experience.
- Assertive and professional.
- Good relationship building capability.
- Excellent organizational skill set.
- 5% or less travelling may needed.

This posting is for an existing vacancy.
Hiring Range: $99,100 - $128,700.
Starting salary is typically offered in the lower to mid portion of the range, with placement determined by the successful candidate’s skills, experience, and internal equity considerations. Candidates with exceptional qualifications and directly relevant experience may be considered for compensation up to the maximum of the range.
