WHAT YOU WILL DO

The overall responsibility of this position is to manage planning functions for all product, marketing and sales issues related to their assigned vehicle models, including monitoring, researching and responding to actions from competing brands in their class. The position is responsible for developing actions to achieve volume, share and profit targets of assigned vehicles and to supervise the actions of Product Planners in developing a product portfolio that meets consumer needs while achieving internal profit goals.  This role will also contribute to building brand value and achieving long-term profitable growth.

HOW WILL YOU MAKE AN IMPACT

  • Lifecycle/Business Planning:  Manages the development of and maintains lifecycle business plans for assigned models.  Develops annual model-level business plans combining current and future sales plans, incentive tactics, market trends, advertising needs, product enhancements and competitive actions
  • New Vehicle Launch Plans: Manages the development and implementation of new launch plans for the introduction of new products. Supervises the Product Planning function for their respective products to ensure competitive vehicle packaging and pricing.  Plans and leads internal functional groups (Task Force Teams), including business partners, to achieve launch objectives.  Manages the introduction and promotions for Special-Edition models throughout vehicle lifecycle
  • Pricing: Supports the development of market-based pricing proposals and implementation of pricing and production mix strategies to achieve corporate profit targets
  • Market Performance: Develops and reports monthly market performance to objectives of assigned portfolio, including regional performance.  Liaises with Sales Operations, Zones, Retail Advertising and Marketing to gather market and competitive intelligence in developing strategic product plans to achieve business objectives.  Track macro trends and social media discussion in order to assess their potential impact on sales and brand
  • Strategic Product Plans: Manages the development and implementation of strategic product plans for assigned models in support of sales, profit, and brand objectives.
  • Supports the development of strategic briefing communications for consumer audiences (brand and retail).
  •  Co-ordinates with Sales Operations in developing incentive tactics in support of sales, profit and brand
  • Develops market position, consumer benefits and consumer target audiences for advertising, marketing and merchandising activities
  • Provides direction to functional groups in public relations, marketing communications and advertising to ensure all promotional materials messaging supports the strategic plan direction
  • Supports long and short-term media/PR events for all product promotions
  • Provides updates and recommended changes to strategic plans on a monthly basis
     

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE

  • Completion of an undergraduate degree or an equivalent combination of experience and education
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in same or similar function with automotive experience being desirable
  •  Excellent oral and written communication skills
  •  Strong collaboration skills
  • Ability to develop team members.
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Working knowledge of SAP, Siebel, CRM and industry databases (Polk, PIN, Maritz)
  • Strong MS Office skills (Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Strong business systems analysis skills
  • Excellent report writing skills
  • Fluency in French and/or Korean is an asset
