JOB TITLE

Senior Technician – xEV Powertrain

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Complete routine maintenance of EV, HEV, PHEV & FCEV vehicles

• Work with engineers to replace and update prototype vehicle parts

• Operating and maintaining MD Class 6 diesel support truck (occasionally)

• Report repair status and project progress weekly

Prototype EV/FCEV Vehicle Instrumentation

• High voltage probes and current sensors

• Thermocouples

• Data acquisition setup and installation

Prototype Vehicle Testing

• Basic performance testing, measurement and analysis

• On-road, proving grounds

• Extreme hot/cold condition

• Towing

Equipment and Shop Organization

• Maintain records of equipment calibration and maintenance

• Organize, purchase, update shop tools, consumables and parts as needed

HOW WILL YOU MAKE AN IMPACT

• Experience with working on electrified vehicles is mandatory (some combination of EV, HEV, PHEV & FCEV). Candidate should be able to describe major components of electrified vehicle powertrains and basic operation. Must have experience in working on high voltage batteries and safety requirements.

• Must have experience in diagnosing vehicle-related problems with service tools, oscilloscopes, multimeters, and other diagnostic tools.

• Highly desired: candidates with excellent computer skills and experience in data acquisition systems / instrumenting for measuring vehicle performance.

• Background in prototype vehicle on-road testing and performance measurement is desirable.

• Experience in leading and managing other technicians’ tasks and training.

• Excellent communication and organizational skills with the ability to handle and prioritize multiple projects and tasks while keeping key stakeholders informed.

• Must be willing to travel for up to 20% on trips of up to 2 weeks in duration.

• Valid Driver's License and satisfactory Driving Record.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE

Required Qualifications

• More than 10 years of automotive technician experience.

• Understands components, principles, and operation of EV, HEV, PHEV, and FCEV vehicles.

• Experience in an R&D lab environment is highly desired.

• Proficient in creating documents, emails, and reports in Microsoft Office.
