Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc. (HATCI) is looking for an Engineer I to join the Mechanisms and Sealing Team of the Closures Engineering Design Team/Department
The Team:

The Position:
The Closures Mechanism Engineer I would support design, development, and release efforts concerning closures mechanism parts and systems (e.g., tonneau covers, door handles, power mechanisms, etc.) for Hyundai, Genesis, and Kia NA vehicles
What You Will Do:
- Perform design-releasing duties for North American-based vehicle projects and manage BOMs
- Create and modify 3D data and 2D drawings via CATIA V5 and other engineering tools
- Estimate and create cost/mass targets for components/parts
- Investigate quality, assembly obstacles, and durability issues, and suggest engineering improvements to mitigate future issues
- Support and interface with other engineering and design functions concerning vehicle development efforts
- Review part/system performance and regulatory testing
- Participate in benchmarking activities for future product development opportunities
- Liaise between North American affiliates and Korean headquarters
- Recommend engineering improvements on assessed field claims, customer feedback, and other sources of vehicle feedback
- Study and interpret industry regulatory requirements and performance standards
- Support the advanced development of closure mechanism systems and components for future vehicles
- Learn best practices, design requirements, and how to manage projects from senior engineers
- Travel up to 20% of the time, both domestically and internationally
What You Will Bring to the Role:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field
- 0-3 years of professional experience in closure mechanisms
- Adept at using CAD and 3D design software
- CATIA V5 experience highly preferred, but not required
- CATIA V5 training will be provided in-house
- CATIA V5 experience highly preferred, but not required
- Ability to explain technical topics to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Proficiency in Microsoft programs, such as Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word
- An ability to prepare reports/spreadsheets (when needed) to support project-related work
- Excellent time management, self-management, and organization skills
- Strong written, oral, and interpersonal skills
- Valid Driver's License and a satisfactory driving record
