Exterior Body Mechanism Engineer I

Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc. (HATCI) is seeking a passionate Exterior Body Mechanism Engineer for the Front Exterior Team. The Exterior Body Mechanism Engineer would assist in designing and developing exterior trim components related to body mechanism parts, such as wipers, mirrors, windshield glass, etc.

What You Will Do:

• Perform design-releasing duties for NA-based vehicle projects and manage bill of materials
• Use CATIA V5 and other engineering tools to create and modify 3D data and 2D drawings
• Estimate and create cost/mass targets for components/parts
• Investigate quality, assembly, and durability issues and make engineering improvements
• Support & interface with other engineering and design functions for vehicle development
• Review part/system performance and regulatory testing
• Study and interpret regulations and performance requirements
• Participate in benchmarking activities
• Be a liaison between North American affiliates and Korean headquarters
• Assess field claims, customer feedback, and other sources and recommend engineering improvements
• Support advanced development of Body & Trim systems and components for future vehicles
• Travel up to 20% of the time, both domestically and internationally
  • South Korea: travel for training and early development
  • North American Plants: travel for pre-production build support

What You Will Bring to the Role:

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline
• Familiarity with MS Office to prepare reports/spreadsheets as necessary to support project work
• Basic CAD and 3D design experience, but CATIA V5 experience is not required
• Self-motivated drive to learn, do, and achieve more
• Valid Driver’s License and a satisfactory driving record
