OTA Software Engineer
Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc. (HATCI) is looking for an engineer to join the OTA (Over-the-Air) Software Team of the Electronic Development Department
The Team:
The OTA Software Team oversees the OTA deployment process for Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis vehicles for the NA (North America) market, validating new software, assisting in its distribution, and advancing its technology to improve customer experience and operational efficiency
What You Will Do:
- Support OTA Update Operations and Validation:
- Engage in impactful engineering projects spanning various aspects of OTA operations, helping to ensure the robust and reliable delivery of software for the NA market
- Perform OTA update verification throughout the lifecycle of Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis vehicles
- Write and execute OTA verification plans, including software deployment, functionality tests, etc.
- Manage software update deployment, collaborating with teams around the world to ensure smooth software delivery
- Contribute to Process Improvement and Automation:
- Develop novel solutions to streamline the efficiency of testing operation
- Investigate and create automation tools to reduce manual testing efforts
- Assist in managing test fleets of vehicles
- Provide Production Manufacturing Support:
- Occasionally provide on-site support at various NA Hyundai and Kia manufacturing centers to ensure quality standards are met
- Travel up to 20% of the time, both domestically and internationally
What You Will Bring to the Role:
- Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field
- Experience with OTA update management and validation responsibilities
- Familiarity with process automation and software design principles
- Experience performing data analysis and issue triage
- Familiarity with automated methods for data processing and analysis is a plus
- Ability to explain technical topics to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Excellent time management, self-management, and organization skills
- An ability to adapt to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines
- Strong written, oral, and interpersonal skills
- A willingness to learn new tools and skills
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in computer engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field
- Familiarity with automotive communication protocols (e.g., CAN, LIN, etc.)
- Experience with project management/issue tracking tools (e.g., Jira, etc.)
