The team’s work is broader than technology scouting alone and includes advanced development portfolio management, technology roadmapping, future technology planning, technology sensing and scouting, research and innovation support, patent and innovation process support, external collaboration, executive reporting, strategic analysis, and technology showcases and events.

The Position:

The Technology Strategy Manager would lead company technology strategy activities by coordinating cross-functional advanced development programs, maintaining technology roadmaps, translating emerging technology signals into actionable opportunities, and preparing executive-level recommendations that support mid- to long-term planning. This role requires close partnership with internal engineering organizations, product strategy and regulation/certification teams, regional affiliates, university and external partners, and HQ counterparts.

  • Own and maintain technology roadmaps, candidate technology pools, technology landscape materials, and evaluation frameworks that assess strategic fit, customer value, feasibility, timing, readiness level, risk, investment needs, and portfolio balance
  • Lead technology sensing and scouting in North America by monitoring emerging technologies, tracking trends, gathering conference and exhibition intelligence, and maintaining relationships with universities, startups, suppliers, research organizations, and ecosystem partners
  • Translate technology discoveries and engineering input into actionable planning implications, recommendations, and opportunities aligned with product, market, regulatory, affiliate, and headquarters needs
  • Drive stakeholder and executive alignment by summarizing technical and business tradeoffs, identifying risks and dependencies, clarifying stakeholder positions, escalating unresolved issues, and recommending next steps
  • Serve as a liaison between engineering, legal, finance, purchasing, and administrative teams and other support functions to resolve budget, contract, intellectual property, resource, and execution requirements for advanced technology projects and external collaborations
  • Manage, mentor, and train team members by setting clear goals, priorities, performance expectations, calendars, resource plans, and development opportunities
  • Control and track budgets for team-related activities, including project planning, external collaborations, events, travel, and department-supported initiatives
  • Create and improve repeatable processes, templates, trackers, reporting standards, knowledge-management systems, and information-sharing channels that improve visibility, accountability, continuity, and reuse of insights
  • Support research, innovation, patent, and idea-management processes that encourage technology growth and improve visibility of company innovation activities
  • Plan and support technology showcases, exhibits, workshops, and information-sharing events that communicate the capabilities of the company and future technology opportunities to internal and global stakeholders
  • Travel up to 20% of the time, both domestically and internationally
