Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc. (HATCI) is currently looking for an Engineering Manager – Behavior Planning and Control for Autonomous Driving at our Superior Township, Michigan facility:
The Autonomous Driving Software (ADS) team in Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc. (HATCI) is an engineering team that focuses on improving performance and expanding ADAS/AD features and services of Hyundai/Kia/Genesis vehicles for the North American (NA) market. The team’s key roles and responsibilities are:
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Manage and grow a team of talented engineers leading the design, implementation and integration of new N.A region specific ADAS/AD features, fostering technical excellence and career growth
- Translate product requirements and real-world use cases into scalable planning and control architectures.
- Collaborate daily and cross-functionally with perception and data teams to ensure seamless integration and robust real-world performance
- Interface with technical experts from the Autonomous Driving (AD) Center in South Korea to strengthen existing collaborative relationship with our HQ partner teams and align on roadmaps
- Develop strategic partnerships with universities and startups for advanced research of new algorithms or frameworks for autonomous driving applications
- Manage supplier relationships and outsourcing activities with third party companies for existing and new projects
- Interface regularly with partner departments (e.g HR, finance) for headcount management, budget management, department roadmap planning etc.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE
- B.S or M.S in Robotics, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science or a related field
- 5+ years of practical / industry experience, preferably in motion planning, controls or decision-making algorithms for autonomous systems
- 1+ years of industry experience managing small engineering teams
- Strong knowledge of lateral and longitudinal vehicle dynamics, planning algorithms, and control theory
- Proficiency in Python, C++ and ROS
- Project management experience, particularly in an agile setting (e.g Kanban)
- Excellent communication and people skills, able to communicate complex ideas to technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic team
