Position Summary (Department ONLY):

Direct and coordinate the activities of Group Leaders and Team Leaders in the weld shop in an automotive manufacturing plant. Responsible for constant monitoring of safety, quality, cost, and productivity while initiating daily improvement activities. Interact and coordinate within a cross functional environment including other departments, support, and control groups.

Essential Functions:

  •  Administer and control practices in the areas of safety, human relations, quality, cost, housekeeping, and delivery targets for multiple teams in assigned area of plant operations.
  •  Communicate with suppliers and/or other departments to ensure on-time delivery and prevent disruption of supply chain.
  •  Interact with others to resolve delivery issues; implement improvement procedures for repetitive delivery failures; notify management and/or affected teams or departments in a timely manner as required.
  •  Build and maintain positive working relationships with Team Members and management across departments; and with production and maintenance to facilitate effective interaction.
  •  Incorporate new methods and processes to drive continuous improvements of vehicle quality and production utilization.
  •  Review engineering orders.
  •  Conduct employee training in equipment operations, or work and safety procedures.
  •  Manage special projects for automation and process improvements for production through successful completion.
  •  Control costs within specific budgets; expense, capital, projects – develop cost improvement ideas and lead implementation.
  •  Initiate and complete reports tracking Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and other administrative tasks as required.
  •  Ensure Team Member compliance with HMMA policies and procedures.
  •  Coordinate the administration of department documents including adding and revising forms and processes in MQ1, the document control database used by HMMA.
  •  Administer, coordinate, and comply with all Business Management System (BMS), Environmental Management System (EMS), and Safety Management System (SMS) requirements.
  •  Meet all other requirements as assigned.

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent preferred

Related Experience:

  •  5 – 10 years of job related experience with supervisory duties preferred (Group Leader or above) \
  • Manufacturing experience desired
  • Welding experience desired

Additional Information:

Position may require occasional travel (domestic or foreign). Flexibility in working hours to include weekends, holidays, and off shift. Position may require on-call duty or overtime due to overall responsibility.
