Position Summary:

Manage and oversee vehicle manufacturing engineers in an automobile manufacturing environment. Apply knowledge of materials and engineering theory and methods to design, integrate, and improve manufacturing systems or related processes. Responsible for managing preparation of process documents, equipment install/modification before new vehicle launch, monitoring and analyzing current production process, and making improvement in 4M (vehicle quality, productivity/utilization, and equipment debug and improvement) during non-launching time period. Position must interact effectively with other departments including overseas Headquarters and provide support.

Essential Functions:

  • Ability to lead, train, mentor, encourage, and support Vehicle Manufacturing Engineers.
  • Ensure Team Member compliance with HMMA policies and procedures.
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with Team Members and Management across departmental boundaries.
  • Incorporate new methods and processes to drive continuous improvements of vehicle quality and production utilization.
  • Establish plans for new model activities; including equipment installation, process document preparation, and quality check documentation.
  • Communicate with Advanced Vehicle Manufacturing Engineering Team in Korea and other relevant teams in R&D from Korea/USA for successful launch.
  • Coordinate and lead project activities, including new equipment installation, supplier selection, and implementation phases.
  • Responsible to manage preparation of the Assembly Process Sheets considering method and line condition with detailed picture and text.
  • Manage special projects for new tooling and equipment to support production.
  • Initiate and complete reports tracking Key Performance Indicators (KPI) and other administrative or reporting tasks as required.
  • Troubleshoot new and existing product problems involving designs, materials, or processes; determine root causes of failures and recommend countermeasures. 
  • Control costs within established budgets.

  • HMC VIP support); review finished materials for completeness, accuracy, format, and appropriate English to Korean language usage.
  • Administer, coordinate, and comply with all Business Management System (BMS), Environmental Management System (EMS), and Safety Management System (SMS) requirements.
  • Meet all other requirements as assigned.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering or equivalent preferred

Related Experience:

5 - 10 years job related experience preferred

Skills / Knowledge:

  • MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • CATIA or similar CAD program
  • Bilingual – ability to speak, read, and write Korean and English fluently

Additional Information:

Position may require occasional travel (domestic or foreign). Flexibility in working hours to include weekends, holidays, and off shift. Position may require on-call duty or overtime due to overall responsibility.
