Manager - Legal (Compliance & Risk Management)

Position Summary:
Corporate Counsel of Compliance & Risk Management will report to the Associate General Counsel (AGC) and has primary responsibility for all legal matters relating to legal compliance and risk management matters.
Essential Functions:
- Advises company on various compliance matters, including adherence to various laws and company policies.
- Develop compliance policies, procedures, processes, and systems.
- Conduct compliance risk assessments and oversee compliance hotline monitoring.
- Conduct internal investigations and prepare internal investigation reports.
- Conduct various legal audits.
- Assist with business partner code of conduct compliance matters.
- Assist with governmental affairs compliance matters.
- Conduct legal training to educate Team Members on applicable laws.
- Prepare annual compliance report.
- Oversee company’s e-discovery system.
- Track and report any compliance, risk management, or legal developments in laws that may affect company.
- Advise company on legal risk management matters, including mitigation of legal risk, and procurement of insurance.
- Assist company with crisis management plans.
- Coordinates with other Legal & Compliance Team Members to accomplish departmental objectives.
- Always display exemplary ethical behavior, including: (1) being free of undue influence and conflicts of interest; (2) strictly complying with HMMA policies and procedures; (3) being honest, transparent, and accountable; (4) report all known illegal or unethical behavior; and (5) protecting confidential information.
- Administer, coordinate, and comply with all Business Management System (BMS), Environmental Management System (EMS), and Safety Management System (SMS) requirements.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by the Associate General Counsel or General Counsel.
Education:
Juris Doctor Degree from an ABA-accredited Law School required
Related Experience:
6+ years of job-related experience preferred
Training / Certification:
- Member in Good Standing of the Alabama State Bar (Attorney or Authorized House Counsel)
- Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional Certificate preferred

- Excellent verbal and written skills
Additional Information:
Position may require occasional travel (domestic or foreign). Flexibility in working hours to include weekends, holidays, and off shift. Position may require on-call duty or overtime due to overall responsibility.
