Specialist - Engine (Process Engineering Assembly)

Position Summary:
Technical specialist for the assembly area in an automotive manufacturing environment. Job requirements include the analysis and improvement of current
production processes and coordination of new models and launches.
Essential Functions:
- Identify opportunities or implement changes to improve products or reduce costs using knowledge of fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment, assembly methods, quality control standards, or product design, materials and parts.
- Determine root causes of failures using statistical methods and recommend changes in designs, tolerances, or processing methods.
- Provide technical expertise or support related to manufacturing.
- Incorporate new methods and processes to improve existing operations.
- Troubleshoot new or existing product problems involving designs, materials, or processes.
- Review production schedules, engineering specifications, orders, and related information to obtain knowledge of manufacturing methods, procedures, and activities.
- Coordinate and implement quality control objectives, activities, or procedures to resolve production problems, maximize product reliability, or minimize costs.
- Recommend methods for improving utilization of personnel, material, and utilities.
- Develop manufacturing methods, labor utilization standards, and cost analysis systems to promote efficient staff and facility utilization.
- Apply statistical methods and perform mathematical calculations to determine manufacturing processes, staff requirements, and production standards.
- Serve as technical expert to Team Members & Team Leaders; provide technical training as needed.
- Participate in Cross Functional Teams (CFTs) and other problem solving teams, as directed by management.
- Support daily production issues as required.
- Develop and update Business Management System (BMS) documentation.
- Report current projects, progress, and issues to management. Prepare presentations and reports as required.
- Administer, coordinate, and comply with all Business Management System (BMS), Environmental Management System (EMS), and Safety Management System (SMS) requirements.
- Meet all other requirements as assigned.
Position Requirements:
Education
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred
Related Experience
- 0 – 10 years of job related experience in automotive assembly systems, tooling capability, and dimensional quality systems preferred
Skills / Knowledge
- MS Word
- MS Excel
- MS PowerPoint
- Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods
Additional Information:
Position may require occasional travel (domestic or foreign). Flexibility in working hours to include weekends, holidays, and off shift. Position may require on-call
duty or overtime due to overall responsibility.
