Position Summary:
The tax specialist will conduct routine and complex studies associated with tax issues. Responsible for the preparation of assigned tax forms and related reports, as well as responsibility to monitor, review, and analyze accounts; prepare forecasts of tax related expenditures; prepare responses to government notices, external audits, and periodic financial reporting packages. Position works with the Cost, General Accounting, and Treasury areas to analyze and prepare tax issues.
Essential Functions:
- Gather data, prepare, and file sales and use, payroll, property tax, and other tax related returns.
- Perform daily review of accounting documents and material codes for sales and use tax.
- Review invoices and fixed asset documents for proper tax processing.
- Review fixed asset information for property tax.
- Prepare government surveys.
- Prepare monthly tax journal entries.
- Assist in tax audits.
- Perform reviews, reconciliations, summarizations, and analysis as assigned by management.
- Must be hands-on and willing to assist other Team Members as needed.
- Ability to manage deadlines, work on multiple assignments and prioritize each assignment as necessary.
- A solution-finding attitude.
- Ability to work well with a team, as well as independently.
- Administer, coordinate, and comply with all Business Management System (BMS), Environmental Management System (EMS), and Safety Management System (SMS) requirements.
- Meet all other requirements as assigned.
Position Requirements:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance or business related field or equivalent preferred
Related Experience:
- 0 – 10 years job related experience preferred
- 2+ years experience in tax/accounting or related field desired
Training / Certification:
Skills / Knowledge:
- Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
- SAP desired
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Additional Information:
Position may require occasional travel (domestic or foreign). Flexibility in working hours to include weekends, holidays, and off shift. Position may require on-call duty or overtime due to overall responsibility.
