Specialist - Human Resources (Payroll)

Position Summary:
Processes payrolls; posts to the general ledger; performs various payroll assignments such as direct deposits, garnishments, tax levies, wage assignments, and child support orders; verifies terminations; employee social security numbers; audits time entry and calculations; enters data changes in an automotive manufacturing environment. Responsible for maintaining all records related to payroll tax preparation. Assist in developing and maintaining payroll tax-reporting systems and procedures to ensure adequate accounting and control for various tax liabilities with the finance department. Respond to/resolve Team Member and time administrator questions and problems; deliver quality customer service.
Essential Functions:
- Generate bi-weekly and/or monthly payrolls.
- Review and audit time entry data within payroll system for accuracy; resolve any discrepancies.
- Review and edit changes received from Team Members and make adjustments and corrections as needed.
- Perform payroll tax audit and review/research tax audit reports and correct tax errors accordingly.
- Compile payroll data such as garnishments and vacation and personal time.
- Coordinate payment of pay progressions and car lease programs.
- Process tax changes; research tax issues on an as-needed basis.
- Research and resolve Team Member issues.
- Provide verification of employment information as requested.
- Provide wage reports and audit summaries for Workers Compensation as needed.
- Review and audit claims and arrears monthly, quarterly, annually; determine processing method.
- Calculate and verify correct W-2 information; assist in processing year-end balances; and printing W-2 forms (including requests for reprints/reissues).
- Interact with the finance department to ensure proper tax information is maintained in the SAP system.
- Review and maintain payroll files, processing files, and unemployment files; generate responses to appropriate agencies and generate reports as needed.
- Provide internal management reports as needed.
- Stay abreast of changes in wage and tax laws; correspond with federal, state, and local tax agencies on behalf of Team Members.
- Lead payroll-related projects and continuous improvement activities.
- Administer, coordinate, and comply with all Business Management System (BMS), Environmental Management System (EMS), and Safety Management System (SMS) requirements.

Education:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent desired
Related Experience:
- 0 – 10 years job related experience preferred

Additional Information:
Position may require occasional travel (domestic or foreign). Flexibility in working hours to include weekends, holidays, and off shift. Position may require on-call duty or overtime due to overall responsibility
