Position Summary:

Responsible for calibration activities including tool selection, purchase, testing, repair, replacement, and calibration related issues in the General Assembly area of an auto manufacturing environment to ensure that every bolt on the car is tightened to the correct torque specification. Responsible for the calibration of digital torque wrenches, click torque wrenches, pulse tools, pneumatic tools, battery tools, and DC electric tools.

Essential Functions:

. Determine annual budget needed to purchase and repair tools. 
. Determine tool specifics for each joint type. 
. Negotiate pricing and delivery with tool vendors. 
. Inspect, diagnose, maintain, and repair all assembly tools. 
. Identify required data, data acquisition plans, and test parameters, setting up equipment to confirm to these specifications. 
. Record and interpret test data on joints, assemblies, and mechanisms. 
. Confer with engineering personnel regarding details and implications of test procedures and results; create and revise equipment specifications for calibration 
as needed. 
. Adjust, repair or replace faulty components of tools and equipment; schedule calibration and maintenance service with outside contractors. 
. Operate and calibrate computer systems and devices to comply with test requirements and to perform data acquisition and analysis. 
. Test torque equipment under simulated operational conditions, performing systems readiness tests and pre- and post-operational checkouts, to establish 
design or fabrication parameters. 
. Maintain and update the calibration equipment master database. 
. Train Tool Room Team Members to program tools, repair tools, trace tools, mark tools, and gather torque information.
. Administer, coordinate, and comply with all Business Management System (BMS), Environmental Management System (EMS), and Safety Management 
System (SMS) requirements.
. Meet all other requirements as assigned.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent desired

Related Experience:

  • 0 – 10 years of job related experience preferred

Additional Information:

Position may require occasional travel (domestic or foreign). Flexibility in working hours to include weekends, holidays, and off shift. Position may require on-call duty or overtime due to overall responsibility.
