Global Trade Compliance Assistant Manager
WHAT YOU WILL DO
The Global Trade Assistant Manager (FTA) supports the movement of shipments within HMGMA’s supply chain by ensuring accurate documentation and full compliance with U.S. Free Trade Agreement requirements, including USMCA and KORUS. Responsible for ensuring timely and accurate fulfillment and delivery of imported, exported, and domestic transported goods. Communicates effectively with vendors, US customs brokers, freight forwarder, and transportation carriers to ensure efficient movement of goods across borders.
[General Summary]
• Serve as a subject matter expert on the company’s Free Trade Agreements and support HMGMA’s compliance with U.S. CBP requirements, including USMCA and KORUS.
• Perform and oversee monthly USMCA qualification calculations in coordination with internal teams and external vendors.
• Analyze and report overall FTA compliance status to management.
• Support the development and execution of Global Trade and FTA strategies aligned with HMGMA’s objectives and business plan.
• Assist in creating FTA training materials and delivering training sessions for internal teams and Global Trade functions.
• Ensure accurate HTS code classification for imported and exported goods in compliance with U.S. Customs regulations.
• Review and verify commercial invoices, packing lists, and shipping documents for accuracy and compliance.
• Oversee customs clearance processes to ensure timely and compliant import and export operations.
• Mitigate risk by ensuring adherence to all applicable customs laws, regulations, and trade agreements.
• Support logistics operations from import through distribution and export.
• Identify and implement cost saving initiatives within logistics and trade operations.
• Continuously improve work procedures and internal processes to enhance efficiency and compliance.
• Provide professional guidance to internal departments on trade, logistics, and customs matters.
• Communicate proactively with headquarters and global stakeholders to ensure alignment and consistency in trade decisions.
• Collaborate cross functionally with procurement, production control, legal, finance, and other relevant departments.
• Support special projects and assignments related to Global Trade and logistics.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE
Required:
Bachelor’s degree
• Extensive knowledge and experience with US Free Trade Agreements: USMCA / KORUS management is mandatory.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States and not require work authorization sponsorship by our company for this position now or in the future
• Expertise in HTS classification and customs clearance processes.
• 7+ Years of Experience in FTA.
• 5+ Years of Supervisory Experience.
• Direct experience with import and export shipping.
• Experience with Microsoft Office products or equivalent applications.
• Deep understanding of external market and current trends.
Preferred:
• Job related experience in automotive or related industry.
• 4+ Years of Freight Forwarding Experience
• Extensive experience working in Global Trade in a related field.
• Domestic / International travel may be required.

Physical Demands
While in Office:
This position is primarily sedentary and requires working at a desk and computer for extended periods. Responsibilities may include:
• Occasional lifting of office supplies (up to 15 pounds)
• Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing and handling documents
• Ability to sit, stand, and walk within the office environment as needed
When in Production Area (if applicable):
• Standing, walking, bending, and reaching for extended durations
• Repeated lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling of materials and products (up to 25–30 pounds)
• Manual dexterity for handling power tools, machinery, or production equipment
• Working in environments that may be noisy, hot, or require the use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
• Ability to climb ladders or stairs and operate equipment safely and effectively
• Capability to learn and work on multiple production processes, as required
• Adequate visual and auditory abilities to identify safety hazards and communicate clearly
