Intern, Incentives Planning & Analysis

The Intern, Incentives Planning & Analysis will prepare, aggregate, and analyze sales and incentives related data to support the Incentives Planning & Analysis department. This role will be responsible for compiling data from various internal and external sources, analyzing the information, and creating reports to be used to make recommendations to senior management. This role will also help build creative data analytic tools and perform financial modeling. The role will also be responsible for creating new Tableau visualizations that can be used to track various types of Incentives related data. 

 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Inventory current tools used to assess competitiveness of HMA consumer and dealer Incentive Programs 
  • Develop methods to easily access, transform and visualize pertinent data from a variety of Internal and External data sources. 
  • Assist in the development and deployment of financial models for consumer and dealer programs. 
  • Assist in building new processes to help optimize scenario and budget planning. 
  • Assist in creating presentations for Leadership team. 

 

Project Details: 

  • Incentive Optimization Model Development 
  • The model will consist mainly of 3 components:  
    • General sales conditions: General characteristics around the sales process for a specific VIN at a given time that usually cannot be controlled by the seller but that have influence the outcome.  
    • An incentives strategy: One of all the possible sets of alternatives of incentivized prices and payment methods a vehicle can be presented to the customer.  
    • An estimated probability to sale a VIN under a specific combination of 1) and 2).  
  • The business may have already engaged a vendor to assist in this development.  In that case, it will be necessary for the intern to consolidate the results into Tableau Dashboards so that these elasticities can be tracked dynamically.  The intern will set up monthly processes for training, testing, and validation of the model, including determining variable importance as new data sources become available. 
  • As a capstone to the project, the intern will be expected to present findings, and/or an evaluation of the incentives optimization model to leadership. 

 

Additional Notes:

  • Available for a full-time paid internship in June to August 2026   
  • Local to Fountain Valley, CA (no relocation or housing will be offered) 
  • Must be eligible to work up to 40 hours per week
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the US on a full-time basis during the internship   
  • Visa sponsorship is not available   
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (Monday-Friday) 
  • Compensation: $25.00/Hour

 

Education:

  • Must be a high school graduate.
  • Currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate student.
  • Academic path that includes advanced data science knowledge.

 

Skills/Knowledge:

  • Expert in MS Excel (including VBA model). 
  • Skilled in Tableau, Python, PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of Statistical Modeling and/or Econometrics.
