WHAT YOU WILL DO

Direct and coordinate all project management activities related to North American cost reduction in support of the Cost Optimization Committee.

HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

  • Provide day to day leadership for the management of all cost optimization projects as defined by the Cost Optimization Committee, including project status reporting vs. established target.
  • Facilitate and educate project members of PMO objectives, strategies, standards, and policies.
    Execute PMO maturity plans to develop the PMO Cost Optimization Center of Excellence.
  • Implement, manage, and lead continuous improvement of the Cost Optimization Management System digital tracking tool (COMS).
  • Perform all program management activities, including the following quality assurance functions:
    • Ensure all Cost Optimization Committee policies, standards, and processes are followed.
    • Ensure quality of materials to be presented to the Cost Optimization Committee.
    • Facilitate seamless communication to appropriate organizations to ensure their awareness of details that may affect their areas.
      Ensure financial tracking is aligned with official HMA financial forecasts.
    • Coordinate, schedule, and create accurate project health and status reports.
  • Track status on a real-time basis and report to broader organization on a weekly basis.
  • The ideal candidate is detail oriented and able to quickly make correlations between activities and financial impact.
  • Manage and advise a team of personnel working directly with Purchasing division regarding commercial and supply chain strategy.
  • Propose detailed processes required to efficiently operate the Cost Optimization Committee.
  • Directly communicate with HMA, HMNA, HMMA, HATCI and HMC executives and team leaders as required to make the Cost Optimization Committee effective.
  • Represent the Cost Optimization Organization in VA/VE related activities.
  • Manage department budget and lead activities related to coordination of vendors, as required.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Finance, or MBA preferred.
  • Ten or more years of relevant Complex Project Management required (preferably automotive).
  • Project Management office experience.
  • Intimate knowledge of procurement processes a plus.
  • Vehicle Engineering experience is a strong plus.
  • Data management and statistical analysis and reporting.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Project.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Project Management Software fluency is a plus.
  • Certified Project Manager Professional is a plus.

  • Physical requirements: Normal office duties. 
  • Position requires willingness to work a flexible schedule and may require occasional weekends and/or evenings.
  • Must be willing to travel up to 20% of the time, domestically and internationally. 
  • Sometimes travel requirements will have very short notice.
