WHAT YOU WILL DO

The SGM, Procurement & Supply Chain - Strategy & Planning plays a pivotal role in Hyundai’s strategic response to U.S. regulatory trade by driving cost reduction initiatives and accelerating the localization of parts across strategic regional operations. This role supports the NA Cost Opt and Global Profit Opt teams by identifying sourcing opportunities, enhancing production efficiency, and aligning procurement strategies with global and regional cost optimization goals. The position contributes directly to Hyundai’s competitiveness and resilience in a dynamic trade environment. 

HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

  • Localization Strategy Execution: Lead initiatives to localize key components and materials in North America, reducing tariff exposure and improving supply chain agility. 
  • Localization Governance Committee: PMO function to manage consolidated reporting for the Localization Governance Committee by setting quarterly objectives and measuring actual results versus BP objective. 
  • Cost Optimization Projects: Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities across procurement and manufacturing processes, leveraging data analytics and cross-functional collaboration. 
  • Cross-Functional Coordination: Work closely with HMMA, HMGMA, HATCI, GPO, and R&D to align localization and cost strategies with engineering, quality, and production teams at each manufacturing site. 
  • Supplier Engagement & Development: Support the evaluation and onboarding of local suppliers, ensuring alignment with Hyundai’s quality, cost, and delivery terms and conditions. 
  • Tariff & Trade Analysis: Monitor trade regulations and tariff developments; assess their impact on sourcing strategies and recommend mitigation actions. 
  • Performance Reporting: Develop and maintain dashboards and reports to track localization progress, cost savings, and supplier performance metrics. 
  • Process Improvement: Drive continuous improvement in procurement and localization processes through benchmarking, best practices, and innovation. 
  • Global Deployment: Maintain active connection with HKMC Purchasing and Global Plant Purchasing Teams to consolidate and optimize supply chains to improve delivery performance and cost reduction. 
  • Decision-Making: Exercises high independent judgment in identifying cost-saving opportunities, recommending sourcing strategies, and resolving supplier-related issues. 
  • Problem Solving: Partners with immediate Director and leads resolution of operational and strategic challenges related to cost, localization, and supplier performance. Escalates high-impact issues to senior leadership as needed. 

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business, or related field required. 
  • MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred. 
  • Ten or more years of experience in procurement, supply chain, or manufacturing operations, preferably in the automotive industry. 
  • Experience with cost optimization and localization strategies is essential. 
  • Proven track record in cost optimization, supplier management, and managing the information/activities of international trade regulations. 
  • Three or more years of supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. tariffs and global trade dynamics 
  • Proficiency in cost analysis, supplier development, and project management 
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills 
  • Familiarity with procurement systems and data analytics tools 
  • Cross-cultural experience is a plus 
  • Strategic thinker with a hands-on approach 
  • Results-oriented and proactive 
  • Collaborative and adaptable in a fast-paced, global and/or regional environment 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities  

WHAT HYUNDAI CAN OFFER YOU

  • Compensation Range: $137,025 - $203,000 annual base salary
  • Monthly Hyundai/Genesis vehicle lease allowance (including insurance and maintenance)
  • Holiday Pay - the company shuts down with pay between Christmas and New Years.

  • Physical requirements: Normal office duties
  • International Travel may be required up to 25%. 
  • Work Model: Hyundai/Genesis is currently in a temporary hybrid work model. Please note that we will be transitioning to a 100% onsite work model effective Monday, July 28, 2025.
