WHAT YOU WILL DO

The Senior Group Manager, Product Planning is an advanced-level strategy leader for product planning strategy and portfolio governance for the U.S. market, ensuring a competitive, market-aligned, and profitable vehicle lineup (Body-on-Frame Pickups & SUVs, Light Commercial Vehicles) across the full product lifecycle. This role translates long-term brand and business objectives into actionable product strategies through cross-functional leadership.

HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

Product Planning Leadership & Coordination

  • Manage the Product Planning master schedule to monitor progress and ensure timely completion of all milestones.
  • Own and manage the end-to-end lifecycle of assigned models, including market positioning, target buyer, model packaging, and sales volume based on extensive market research and customer insights.
  • Oversee development of specifications for full-model changes and mid-lifecycle refreshes driven by key market factors.
  • Supervise creation of comprehensive product planning proposals using in-depth market and competitive analysis for executive management presentations.
  • Lead future and long-range product, powertrain, and technology planning, aligning local and global strategies through lineup planning, design concepts, brand positioning, competitiveness, compliance, and profitable growth.
  • Initiate vehicle packaging and feature strategies for current model year changes and future products.
  • Collaborate with regional counterparts to incorporate Canada’s market voice and ensure North American alignment.
  • Lead preparation and executive support for monthly Product Committee governance meetings, including agenda and presentation development.
  • Collaborate with teams to optimize trim strategies, pricing, cost reduction opportunities, margins, and profitability targets for direct consumer and fleet markets.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between Hyundai Motor Company Global Headquarters and HMA/HMNA, representing U.S. market requirements in global forums.
  • Lead development of future and long-term Hyundai product plans, including lineup strategy, electrification direction, target buyer definition, and competitive positioning.

General Responsibilities

  • Manage, coach, and develop planning staff; drive continuous process improvement; oversee OCN/Monroney/spec validation; monitor market acceptance; manage product planning budget; guide North American product direction; support executive initiatives; and manage one or more functional areas.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE

  • Must be a high school graduate.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Ten or more years of experience of which at least five years of directly related experience with an automotive manufacturer or distributor with direct product planning experience.
  • Three or more years of supervisory experience desired.
  • Related experience with body-on-frame truck vehicle planning or product line management responsibility.
  • Strong command of automotive technology and trends.
  • Strong oral & written communications skills.
  • Proficient with PC applications.
  • Proficient with frequently used Automotive Planning & Analysis Tools including Polk Insight, mTab, J.D. Power PIN, JATO, AutoPlanner, Auto Knowledge, etc.

WHAT HYUNDAI CAN OFFER YOU

  • Compensation Range: $149,800 - $214,000 annual base salary
  • Monthly Hyundai/Genesis vehicle lease allowance (including insurance and maintenance)
  • Holiday Pay - the company shuts down with pay between Christmas and New Years.
