WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Senior Manager, Data Science and Analytics Solutions - Safety & Quality is responsible for supporting the Hyundai North America Safety Office and Quality & Service Engineering with analytics and data science. The candidate must demonstrate extensive experience with machine learning, statistics, text analytics, and software development with the assistance of AI (i.e., coding agents). This role will also engage with Hyundai Affiliates and 3rd party partners to develop and maintain technical capabilities required to support business objectives, primarily with Safety Office technology initiatives. In addition, serve as the strategic manager for advanced analytics by overseeing data engineering, machine learning model development and global data integration for Safety Office and Quality teams.
- This role will work with senior HMNA/HMA/GMA and Hyundai affiliates executives to develop roadmaps, manage portfolio, maximize development efficiency, and expedite time to market for all key technology and advanced analytics initiatives. In addition, this job will be responsible for building detailed business cases, managing technology and vendor selection, and socializing the importance of a given initiative to senior leadership.
- Success will require sophisticated processes, technology, and project management skills, as well as strong analytical skills.
HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
- Create a product road map, prioritize tasks based on changing requirements, and manage progress/issues/backlogs as a product owner of Safety Analytics & Quality.
- Engage with North America Safety Office Division and the Quality teams to fully understand their technology and analytics needs and work collaboratively to identify business benefits and scope a solution to meet those requirements.
- Demonstrate knowledge of how to leverage machine learning, natural language processing, and large language models to mine text-based data for insights.
- Pre-process, clean, and analyze large data sets.
- Conduct exploratory data analysis.
- Create new input features and build end-to-end data pipelines for machine learning models.
- Build and optimize models using machine learning techniques.
- Produce model documentation and Standard Operating Procedures.
- Monitor performance of existing suite of Safety Office & Quality machine learning models and refit as necessary.
- Present data and analysis in a clear and concise manner allowing the audience to quickly understand the results and recommendations and make optimal decisions.
- Gather high level business requirements and develop sound benefit/ROI calculations to support project funding.
- Champion continuous improvement and efficiency within the Safety Office & Quality business divisions and technology partners.
- Manage and foster the relationship between Hyundai/Genesis and technology affiliates and partners.
- Manage the creation, collection and reporting of key performance metrics necessary to ensure optimal IT maintenance and development.
- Manage resources when partnering with technology affiliates and/or 3rd party vendors to deliver projects by completing and updating project documentation; managing project scope; determining daily priorities; ensuring efficient and on-time delivery of project tasks and milestones; following proper escalation paths; and managing business relationships.
- Effectively coach, counsel, and develop staff. Utilize the diverse talents of the staff by efficiently managing staff’s time, materials and budget while focusing on the goals and vision of the company.
- This position is expected to provide critical thinking to propose ideas or solutions that are in the best interest of the HMNA/HMA/GMA organization. Hiring, termination approving timecards and other Manager related duties are required for this position.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE
- Must have a Bachelor’s degree.
- Master’s degree a plus.
- Eight or more years of relevant analytical experience is required.
- Two or more years of supervisory experience is preferred.
- Previous hands-on experience building ML models required.
- Four or more years of experience with data querying skills using SQL. Able to aggregate, gather and manipulate data.
- Four or more years of experience with Python.
- Two or more years of experience with Hadoop a plus.
- Automotive industry experience is a plus.
- Experience managing IT and analytics projects.
- Management consulting experience a plus.
- Experience in creating and presenting executive-facing presentations and other material.
- Experience with agencies such as NHTSA in franchise model is a plus but is not required.
- Excellent Microsoft PowerPoint presentation development skills.
- Sharp analytical, technical, and mathematical / statistical skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to communicate with people of various technical and business backgrounds includes explaining difficult technical concepts in simple terms to business users.

WHAT HYUNDAI CAN OFFER YOU
- Compensation Range: $139,400 - $188,600 annual base salary
- Monthly Hyundai/Genesis vehicle lease allowance (including insurance and maintenance)
- Holiday Pay - the company shuts down with pay between Christmas and New Years.
