WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Oversee and manage a national team responsible for technician development, ensuring timely hosting of Hyundai’s experiential technical training to our dealership network. The role is primarily responsible for ensuring that the Technician Development team efficiently allocates their resources to meet or exceed the department’s training performance KPIs.
  • The Senior Manager, National Technician Development must have a strong background in leadership and in automotive technical training, as well as experience in leading a team of geographically dispersed training professionals.

HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

  • Lead the National Technician Development team to oversee and facilitate Hyundai and Genesis experiential in-person and virtual technical training classes to dealership technicians.
  • Ensure proper adult learning facilitation practices are enforced by the National Technician Development team to continuously improve the diagnostic capabilities of Hyundai and Genesis technicians.
  • Ensure National Technician Development team lead the update of Instructor Led Training (ILT) content based on our internal data to help technicians address concerns that our data says they struggle to address.
  • Prepare and present reports on training initiatives and their impact on dealership performance.
  • Support aspiring technician development programs in coordination with the Sr. Manager, Tech Training Programs, the Regions, dealerships, and approved partner schools. Including the technician mentorship program, vehicle donation program, technician competitions, and any future programs.
  • Collaborate with the Sr. Manager, Tech Training Programs, the Regions, dealerships, and approved partner schools to create strategies that develop and maintain a dependable source of entry-level technicians to the Hyundai and Genesis brands to meet forecasted need for technicians.
  • Establish and enforce exceptional national standards for the maintenance, appearance, cleanliness, and upkeep of all training centers, including shop equipment, tools, and computers.
  • Visit training centers, dealers, and national headquarters as needed.
  • Manage the annual budget to maintain proper levels of funding for all training centers and their equipment as needed.
  • Manage the national training vehicle fleet to ensure it remains safe, attractive, clean, properly maintained, consistent across centers, and properly supports the instructor-led courses. Coordinate the disposal of training vehicles as required by HMA policy.
  • Strategize with department’s senior staff to ensure alignment between Technician Recruiting, Retention, Development, and Curriculum Development and Integration.
  • Effectively coach, counsel, and develop staff to ensure high employee engagement and technician satisfaction as measured by satisfaction surveys. Utilize the diverse talents of the staff by efficiently managing staff’s time, materials, and budget while focusing on the goals and vision of the company.
  • Lead staff in achieving or exceeding annual objectives, including multiple training department KPIs, plus CSI results, IQS results, and VDS results.
  • Perform other assigned duties (duties that are ancillary to this position and/or complement the essential duties) as required.
  • Collaborate with all department Senior Managers to keep training curriculum current as new vehicles, systems, and repair procedures are launched.
  • Collaborate across all internal departments as needed to improve dealer services and technician diagnostic skills.
  • As a key resource manager, this position is responsible for the hiring and development of Technician Development team to support Development Coaches and learning facilitation. This also includes the day-to-day administrative duties of a manager such as expense report review and approval, performance evaluations, and coaching/mentoring of staff.
  • Collaborate with all customer service and field department managers to ensure coordination and integration of Hyundai and Genesis training.
  • This individual also has key duties relating to the maintenance of the training center facilities and related budget. This includes management and protection of all HMA assets: maintenance of vehicles; equipment; supplies; identification of local resources to support the training activity and coordinating building maintenance with the appropriate National department as necessary.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE

  • Must be a high school graduate.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Master’s degree a plus.
  • At least eight years of experience, with at least five years of directly related experience in automotive technical operations.

  • Compensation Range: $107,800.00 - $154,000.00 annual base salary

  • Duties associated with normal office duties as well as management of automotive repair shop.
  • May be required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds of tools & equipment.
  • May be required to travel up to 25% of the time.
