WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • The Manager of Port Quality plays a critical role in protecting the Hyundai brand at its final and most visible checkpoint.
  • This position will ensure every Hyundai vehicle leaves the port meeting the highest standards of quality by overseeing product integrity and all port processing activities—including storage, final inspection, campaigns, accessory installation, load line audits, and truck and rail transportation.
  • This position’s work directly influences customer satisfaction and brand reputation, making this position essential to Hyundai’s commitment to excellence. 

HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

Vehicle Quality Assurance

  • Manage quality inspections and processing of Hyundai and Genesis vehicles at the PH (Philadelphia) Sea Port.
  • Prepare Quality Information Reports (QIR) to identify quality issues before dealer shipment.
  • Review and approve port warranty claims; oversee warranty repair parts.
  • Conduct battery status and fuel light checks at First Point of Rest (FPOR).
  • Perform spot checks, FPOR, aged inventory, load line, rail ramp, and dealer PDI audits.
  • Oversee port campaigns, including audits and parts management.
  • Benchmark competitive vehicles for port and field quality issues.
  • Coordinate with Service Engineers and Model-line engineers on quality issues.

Port Processing Quality Assurance

  • Serve as HMA liaison with GLOVIS and port processors to ensure HMA standards.
  • Conduct accessory installation audits and training.
  • Oversee PIO defective inventory and processor follow-up.
  • Publish inspection trend reports; review warranty trends.
  • Monitor AQL, assess operational risk, and support cross audits.

New Model & Other Support

  • Verify Monroney stickers post-wholesale release.
  • Participate in audits, ride-and-drives, and monitoring events.
  • Support accessory tryouts and host quality-focused visits.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE

  • Must be a high school graduate.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Master’s degree a plus.
  • At least six years of experience in Automotive Quality Control / Quality Assurance.
  • Three years supervisory experience preferred.
  • Extensive automotive technical knowledge.
  • Proprietary hardware/software knowledge.
  • Proficient Computer Skills (Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Photographic skills.
  • Vehicle evaluation in both static and dynamic conditions.
  • High Degree of cross functional cooperation/coordination.
  • Ability to lead through influence vs. direct authority.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral formats.

OTHER DETAILS

  • Requires ability to work in confined port environments inside and outside of many cars each day.
  • Able to work outdoors during full climate range.
  • Must be able to travel by air or car to other US Ports across the US and possibly fly to Korea for vehicle inspections.
